This is a little personal but I'll put it in case it helps somebody. Over about two years I stopped going out. Not a decision, I just kept finding reasons. The big family things first, then coffee with the girls, and then I realized I hadn't had a real conversation with anybody in two weeks. It's easier to stay home than keep asking people to repeat themselves. My son got me these in May. Took about four days before it felt normal, your own voice sounds strange at first, apparently everybody gets that. Called my sister last week and we were on for over an hour.

Cost was half of it and vanity was the other half, about equal. My wife has spent twelve years repeating herself and me getting short with her about it, which I am not proud of. If you are doing the sums I was doing, order them. Worst case you send them back.
