Writing this mainly as a tip because nobody told me. The first two days everything sounds wrong. Your own voice sounds like you're talking into a bucket, the kettle is enormous, a packet of crisps is an event. I nearly boxed them back up on day two. Somewhere around day four it just went and I stopped noticing. I've read since that it's normal and the brain adjusts. So don't judge them on the first evening like I nearly did.
