About ten years ago I bought one of those sound amplifiers off the telly. It squealed every time I turned my head near my collar and it put me off the whole idea. My son talked me into trying again. These are a different thing altogether. No squeal, since January not once. And it's not just louder, it's clearer. The old one made everything bigger including the fridge and the traffic. These leave the background alone and bring the voices up.
