That sounds like a small thing to buy something for but it was not a small thing to me. I have been back since April and I get most of it. Not every word, the building is still the building. But most of it. I also hear the hymn numbers being called out now which I used to have to look over at the board for.

Writing this mainly as a tip because nobody told me. The first two days everything sounds wrong. Your own voice sounds like you are talking into a bucket, the kettle is enormous, a crisp packet is deafening. I nearly boxed them back up on day two. Somewhere around day four it just went and I stopped noticing. I have read since that this is normal and the brain adjusts. So do not judge them on the first evening like I nearly did.
