Home is better, the phone is better, and I am glad about both. Anywhere with background noise and I am straight back to watching mouths and guessing. My doctor told me afterwards that my loss is probably past what this kind of device can do, which I wish I had asked before ordering rather than after. Some of the reviews on here describe a transformation. Mine has been an improvement, which is not the same thing. Television better, phone a bit better, group conversation no better at all. I have kept them because an improvement is still an improvement, but I would want somebody thinking about it to read a middling review as well as the good ones.

At home and in the car theyve made a real difference. In a busy bar with the match on Im no better off than I was. Depends what your problem is I suppose.

That's a fair review. Directional microphones help in a crowd but nothing worn in the ear solves a loud room with a match on — anyone telling you otherwise is selling. If you haven't tried the noisy-room setting, it's worth a go.
