Ten years ago I bought one of those amplifiers off TV. Squealed every time I turned my head near my collar and it put me off the whole idea. My son talked me into trying again. These are a different thing. No squeal, since January not once. And it isn't just louder, it's clearer. The old one made everything bigger including the fridge and the traffic. These leave the background alone and bring the voices up.

My husband had the TV on 38. I'm not exaggerating, I checked it once. The neighbours could hear the game through the wall. Phone calls are the big difference

Face to face I was managing because you get good at watching mouths without realizing it. The phone is different, you have nothing to go on.
