About ten years ago I bought one of those sound amplifiers off the television. It squealed every time I turned my head near my collar and I gave up on the whole idea. My son talked me into trying again. These are a different thing altogether. There is no squeal, I have had them since January and not once. And it is not just louder, it is clearer, if that makes sense. The old one made everything bigger including the fridge and the traffic. These seem to leave the background alone and bring the voices up. I do not know how they do it and I do not much care.

My husband had the telly on 38. I am not exaggerating, I checked it. The people next door could hear the football. He has been wearing these since May and it is on about 14 now which is where I have it when I am on my own. He has not said anything about it and I have not made a thing of it. Face to face I was managing because you get very good at watching mouths without realising you are doing it. The telephone is different because you have nothing to go on. I had got to the stage of texting people I would normally have rung, including my own brother. I rang him last week and we talked for about forty minutes and I did not have to ask him to repeat anything. I hold the phone up to my ear as normal, they do not connect to the phone or anything like that, it just works.
