Specsavers quoted me $4,900, these were a fraction
Julie · Verified purchase, 🇦🇺 Australia ·
I went and had the free test first. Turns out I'm not on a pension, not DVA, not under 26, so the Hearing Services Program does nothing for me. Medicare doesn't touch hearing aids at all, which I did not know until I was sitting there. Entry pair was around $1,495 and the ones they actually wanted to sell me were $4,900 for the pair, with a payment plan they were very keen to talk about. I said I'd think about it and never went back. Bought these to see what you get for the money. At home very good, on the phone very good, in a cafe I can hear the person across from me, which is what I was after.

I'd stopped going to things
Richard P. · Verified purchase, 🇦🇺 Australia ·
This is a bit personal but I'll put it in case it helps someone. Over about two years I stopped going out. Not a decision, I just kept finding reasons. The big family dos first, then coffee with the girls, and then I realised I hadn't had a proper conversation with anyone in a fortnight. It's easier to stay home than to keep asking people to repeat themselves. My son got me these in May. Took about four days before it felt normal, your own voice sounds odd at first, apparently everyone gets that. Rang my sister last week and we were on for over an hour. I'm back at the Tuesday group.

Wore them to my grandson's wedding
Denis White · Verified purchase, 🇦🇺 Australia ·
My daughter ordered these about six weeks before my grandson's wedding because she'd had enough of me missing half of everything. I wasn't convinced and honestly I only put them in on the morning to keep the peace. I heard the whole of the best man's speech. Haven't managed that in years, normally you just laugh when everyone else laughs and hope. Volume was fine straight out of the box, we didn't change a thing. Middle tips, which is what's already fitted. Comfortable from nine in the morning till midnight and my ears weren't sore. If you're putting it off, get them before the thing you're dreading, not after.

Four months at the bowls club, nobody's said a word
Fred F. · Verified purchase, 🇦🇺 Australia ·
The whole point for me was not having the big beige thing behind the ear. My brother's got those and you can pick them from across the green. These sit down in the ear and I've got short hair, I was expecting someone to say something. Four months and not a word. Sound's good, better in a quiet room than a noisy one obviously, but I can hear the caller now which I couldn't before. Charging's easy, they go in the case on the bench next to the kettle.

Try the other tips before you give up
Maureen N. · Verified purchase, 🇦🇺 Australia ·
The size they come fitted with was too small for me and I got a bit of whistle when I put my glasses on. There are spare tips in the packet, three sizes, and swapping takes about ten seconds, you pull one off and push the other on. Went up a size and it's been silent since. Worth saying because I'd have sent them back thinking they were faulty.

No batteries, that was the whole reason
Len H. · Verified purchase, 🇦🇺 Australia ·
I've got arthritis in both hands and the reason I never got hearing aids is those tiny batteries. Mum had them and I remember her on the floor looking for one that had rolled off. These have none, they go in a little case and the case plugs in like a phone. In at night, ready in the morning. Haven't touched a battery since March. Took me about a week to get them in properly, I won't pretend day one was easy. Can do it without the mirror now.

Give it three or four days
Doug D. · Verified purchase, 🇦🇺 Australia ·
Writing this mainly as a tip because nobody told me. First two days everything sounds wrong. Your own voice sounds like you're talking into a bucket, the kettle is enormous, a chip packet is an event. Nearly boxed them up on day two. Around day four it just went and I stopped noticing. I've read since that it's normal and your brain adjusts. So don't judge them on the first evening like I nearly did.

Ordered them without telling the kids
Janet K. · Verified purchase, 🇦🇺 Australia ·
I'm 61 and I wasn't ready for that conversation with my family. So I didn't have it. Ordered online, came in a plain box with nothing on the outside, and I've been wearing them since April. Nobody's said a thing except that I seem more cheerful. I'll tell them eventually. You do the setup yourself on your phone, there's a hearing check that takes about ten minutes and it sets them up off your results. I was worried about that bit and it was fine.

Bought them so I could go back to church
Rashid M. · Verified purchase, 🇦🇺 Australia ·
Id stopped going because I couldnt follow the sermon. It's all hard surfaces in there and it echoes and I was getting maybe one word in three. Sounds like a small thing to spend money on and it wasnt a small thing to me. Been back since April and I get most of it. Not every word, the building's still the building. I can hear the hymn numbers called out now too.

Someone actually answered the phone
Joe P. · Verified purchase, 🇦🇺 Australia ·
Had a question in the first week about whether you can overcharge them leaving them in the case. Rang expecting hold music and a script. Woman answered in under a minute, knew the answer, no you can't, just leave them in. That was it. Rare enough these days to mention.
